Flake
Catriona Yule
I squirrel a Flake
from a girl's satchel
during break time;
dump my healthy lunch,
and gorge it whole,
radiator-propped.
Only the crumbles fall:
soiling the humps
of scorching iron;
and when in role-play
the teacher talks of truth,
I crimp my tie,
lick the sugar
from my fingers.
